Passing Clouds by Kate Oliver - A Mindfulness Blog
About Kate:
I am a meditation teacher, yoga teacher, singer, writer, mum of three big kids, and cancer survivor.
In 2014, as I undertook meditation teacher training and navigated the first year of cancer treatment, I wrote a collection of mindfulness songs for my kids. This went on to become Passing Clouds - Mindfulness Songs for Kids (and their Grown-ups) which was released in 2018, and has been embraced by kids, parents, schools, yoga teachers and clinicians around the world.
I am officially now cancer free, and as much as I would love to report that life is now perennially calm and equanimous, it is, at times, quite the opposite. My nervous system hasn’t fully got the memo that we’re out of the woods, and although mindfulness, yoga and meditation are an integral and nourishing daily resource, I still get pounded by rattling jolts of post traumatic stress.
My practice is where I find steady ground, both on and off the cushion, with mindfulness, yoga & meditation forming an integral and nourishing daily resource.
I am fascinated by the rich interface between contemporary science and ancient teachings, and am passionate about the benefits of mindfulness and heart-centred meditation practices in all aspects of well-being.
In this blog you will find honest stories about meditation, parenting, the nervous system, living with stress, fear and uncertainty, the power of the breath, the body, self-compassion, and gratitude. I will be writing about the unexpected but exhilarating thrill of growth and healing, as well as what grounds me when things go pear-shaped (which is often). And other stuff.
You can also expect guided meditation practices, both for you, and your kids.
I’d love you to join me.
